Be civil to tourists please, bus drivers

File photograph by Akil Simmons

Dear Sir,

It is bad that there is a shortage of buses, plus being late, the public have to put up with rude bus drivers; more so, a few of the women operators. It should be compulsory for them to have their names up on these buses.

I always witness tourists asking a question of a driver when getting on a bus.

A lot of drivers, instead of answering, will keep saying good morning or good afternoon. They should just be civil and answer. They are not there to try to teach people manners. Without people, they would not have a job. Be civil.

To the dispatchers, you should do more than back buses out, often not giving passengers time to sit down. Some drivers are not doing this, period. I have been hurt myself. This could be a lawsuit waiting. Also, dispatchers could be a help to drivers running late, who have to use the rest room, by letting passengers on the bus.

Courtesy is the key.

Thank you.

JW, Pembroke
