Warwick man, 24, banned from driving
A 24-year-old Warwick man has been banned from the roads for failing to provide a sample of breath for analysis.
Appearing in Magistrates’ Court this morning, Dominic White pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place in Pembroke on October 10.
The court heard that he was clocked speeding at 79km/h on Crow Lane by police. He was followed and stopped on Cavendish Road, near the junction with Lane Hill.
While speaking to the defendant, the officers noted that his eyes were glazed, his breath smelled of alcohol and he appeared unsteady on his feet.
And when asked if he had been drinking, White replied: “Not too much.”
He was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he refused to provide a sample of breath for analysis.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo handed White a $400 fine for speeding and an $800 fine for failing to provide the breath sample.
He disqualified him from driving all vehicles for a year.
