Man remanded for smashing display window
A 22-year-old Pembroke man was remanded into custody after he admitted deliberately breaking a display window.
Appearing in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Jahfari Cyrus-Raynor pleaded guilty to unlawfully and wilfully damaging a window belonging to Gibbons Management Services Ltd.
The court heard that Cyrus-Raynor, who is on probation for another matter, was seen kicking the window on Reid Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. CCTV footage also showed him striking several other display windows on Reid Street.
Cyrus-Raynor was later identified, arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station, where he admitted to being extremely intoxicated and offered to pay for the window. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a probation review, remanded Cyrus-Raynor into custody and adjourned the matter to November 2 for sentencing.
