Search for seaman likely to be called off
A search for a 29-year-old sailor who reportedly fell off a Bermuda-registered ship 150 miles south-southwest of the Island is likely to be called off around lunch time if the man has not been found.A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesman said the man's ship, the Livorno Express, and a second ship, the Bestore Tre, had been searching the area for the man since yesterday.And a US Coast Guard C-130 was due to take off from Bermuda around 11.30am to resume an aerial search for the Indian national.If that search is unsuccessful, the search is expected to be called off and the C-130 wll return to the US.Separately, a search for a 21-year-old Chinese seaman feared lost off the Panamanian-registered Ansac Sesoda some 220 miles south-southwest of Bermuda was about to be launched when the sailor was found.The man was reported to be feared missing around 9.30am, but the ship's crew found him after an extensive search hiding in one of the cabins about an hour later.
