Hair-raising way to help charity
Residents gathered at Pier 6 last night sporting a variety of colourful wigs, head accessories and hairstyles to help to raise cash for cancer charity PALS as part of the fourth annual Mad Hair Day.
Staff and students at businesses and schools across the Island also donated money to wear their hair in a crazy way for the day as part of the fundraising initiative.
The group, which has annual expenses now approaching $1.5 million, has been in operation since 1980.
PALS nurses provide services free of charge, including pain and symptom control, counselling, dressing changes and whatever is needed in the care of each patient.
The group also provides free medical equipment including electric beds, wheelchairs and walkers.
