Under-15s unbeaten in Classic

Bermuda's young cricketers captured victory during their first two matches in the Cayman Islands and are on course to lift the title as Western Caribbean Classic champions.

After being forced to sit out an extra day following the withdrawal of Belize, the national under-15s opened none the worse for the wait, thrashing Bahamas by 216 runs on Sunday, before returning on Monday to beat hosts Cayman Islands by three wickets.

The first match provided little in terms of a contest with Bermuda exposing the Bahamians' weaknesses in the field, blasting their way to 242 from a mere 40 overs.

Number three Temiko Wilson led the way with 85 from 88 balls, including five fours. He was assisted by Justin Pitcher, with 23 at number eight, while Rodney Trott registered 16.

Bahamas were skittled out for a paltry 26 in reply to the daunting total, with all six Bermuda bowlers used taking at least one wicket.

Ajani Gibbons returned the best figures, taking three wickets without conceding a run in 3.5 overs. Trott and Oronde Foggo each took two wickets, while Pitcher, Allan Douglas Jr., and Stefan Kelly took one each.

High scorer for Bahamas was Greg Taylor with four.

Much more competitive was Monday's match against Caymans, as Bermuda were severely tested before managing to scrape through with three overs to spare.

The home side set Bermuda a target of 127 for victory, as Omar Willis led the batting with a well played 31.

Foggo, Gibbons and Douglas each took two wickets for Bermuda.

Trott anchored the batting with a disciplined knock of 40, which included just a single boundary, while chief assistance was provided by Douglas, who stroked three fours on his way to 31.
