Simmons leads rout

Bermuda 8 Froya 0Angelo Simmons netted four goals and Marco Warren and Lejuan Simmons two apiece as Bermuda thrashed Froya ahead of their gold medal match tomorrow against Greenland.Coach Andrew Bascome had the luxury of resting several starters, including goalkeeper Freddy Hall, captain John Barry Nusum, Antwan Russell, Damon Ming and Tyrell Burgess, but still they were too strong for Froya as the home side ran riot in the second half, scoring six unanswered goals in coasting to their second 8-0 victory of the week.Bermuda had only two goals to show for their first-half dominance, coming on 30 and 33 minutes when Warren opened the scoring after getting on the end of a through ball on the right side and then Simmons opening his account when he converted a short cross from the left with a simple tap-in.Froya had just one effort, a free kick from 20 yards by Aqqalu Lyberth, to speak of in the first half as Bermuda ended the half in firm control. The floodgates opened up after the restart when Simmons made it 3-0 in the 49th minute with a low shot from a narrow angle. Simmons completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute when he followed up on a rebound, before laying on a cross for Warren to make it 5-0.The goals kept coming when midfielders Simmons and Warren combined with Simmons continuing his run and slotting a low shot past the keeper Eirik Fredagsvik.Simmons got another in the 78th minute with a blast into the roof of the net from close range and then closed out the scoring five minutes from the end after his initial shot was blocked.
