Sims suffers missed cut in eGolf event
Michael Sims’ build-up to the second stage of PGA Q School later this month isn’t going as planned.Yesterday the Bermuda pro missed the cut at the eGolf Tour’s Forest Oaks Open in North Carolina in a field of less than 50.Sims shot successive rounds of 76, finishing at eight over par on the par-72 Championship at River Run course in Greensboro. In yesterday’s second round he had one double bogey, on the par-five first, and then a triple bogey on the par four 15th, the same hole where he ran into trouble on Wednesday with a double bogey. He trailed leader Jonathan Fricke of the US by 15 shots.Sims managed to get through the first stage of Q School last month but will face a much stiffer test the week after next.On Wednesday’s paper it was incorrectly stated that Bill Pitt and Nick Mansell and Ann Symonds and Louise Payne were the men’s and women’s defending champions in the Bermuda Four-Ball Amateur Championships.Mansell and Jarryd Dillas and Ebonie Burgess and Elizabeth Parsons are the defending champions of the tournament which will be held at Port Royal from November 16-18.The deadline to sign up for the tournament is November 8 and the event is open to men and women with valid handicap indexes.
