Teen missing since last Monday
Police are searching for a 15-year-old boy who has been missing for over a week.
Dwayne Hassan, described as having brown skin, dark brown hair, being six feet tall and weighing 140 pounds, was last seen at 8 a.m. on July 28 in Devonshire.
Anyone with any information about the teenager's whereabouts is asked to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.
Three men arrested after assaults
Three young men have been arrested after an early morning assault at King's Square in St. George's.
According to Police, around 3.15 a.m., three unknown men assaulted a male victim on the Square, punching and kicking him to the ground.
During the assault, one of the suspects brandished a bladed article, while another brandished a blunt object. The third suspect appeared to be unarmed.
The suspects then escaped in a car, heading west.
An off duty Police officer followed the suspects in another vehicle and alerted on duty Police units.
As a result, the suspects — a 17-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, all from Pembroke — were apprehended on Harrington Sound Road after a brief pursuit.
Two bladed articles and a blunt object were subsequently recovered from the vehicle.
Police are appealing for the victim as well as any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Police investigate car blaze
Police are investigating an alleged domestic dispute which left a woman's car ablaze on Tuesday morning.
According to Police reports, the woman's car, a black Kia Sportage, was first damaged while parked outside her Town Hill apartment in Smith's.
Police state that sometime after 11 p.m. on Monday night, the woman found her car's rear windshield completely shattered. The woman parked her car outside Bermuda Motors on Church Street in Hamilton to await repairs, only to find out at 6.10 a.m. that the vehicle had been set on fire.
Police impounded her car and report that inquiries into this incident are still underway.
Man charged with driving-related GBH
A man accused of seriously injuring another man by drunk-driving has been charged in Magistrates' Court.
Jarryd Dillas is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to Chauncey Durham through driving while impaired by drink or drugs on Harbour Road, Warwick, on August 16, 2007.
Dillas, 23, a university student from Store Lane, Sandys, faces additional charges of impaired driving and driving with excess alcohol on the same date, in the same vehicle.
He was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be dealt with at the Supreme Court.
No reason for the 12-month delay in bringing the matter to court was given by Senior Crown counsel Paula Tyndale, and she gave no details of the alleged circumstances. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted Dillas $3,000 bail and ordered him to return for an administrative hearing on August 18.
Ban, fine and demerits for impaired driving
A 23-year-old Pembroke man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday for impaired driving.
The court heard from Crown counsel Cindy Clarke that early yesterday morning Police attended a single road collision on Court Street, where they found Christopher Collette laying on his back next to his motorcycle.
When the officers approached him, they noticed that he showed signs of impairment and his breath smelled of intoxicants.
When asked if he had been drinking, Collette said: "Yes, I had vodka, water and Rose's (lime juice). He was then arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.
Collette apologised to the court and was fined $800 and suspended from driving all vehicles for 12 months. He was also given ten demerit points.
Driver was nearly two times over the limit
A man who drove while almost double the drink-drive limit has been fined and banned from the roads.
Police spotted Trevor Gillis at the wheel of a Hyundai Tucson station wagon on Harbour Road, Paget, swerving across the centre line and braking for no reason. When they pulled him over, they smelled alcohol on his breath and he admitted: "I've had a few beers."
Gillis, 48, of Valley Road, Paget, was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where a breath test recorded 155 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood when the legal limit is 80 milligrams. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo meted out a $800 fine, a 12-month ban and ten demerit points.
125 speeding tickets issued over Cup Match
Over the Cup Match holiday, Police issued 125 speeding tickets, many of which were for speeds in the 90-kilometre per hour range. Police also arrested three individuals for impaired driving, four individuals who were driving while disqualified and five who were caught speeding in the City of Hamilton. In addition there were 25 parking tickets handed out over the Cup Match weekend and 12 for driving without a licence.
Throughout the entire week from Monday, July 28 to Monday, August 4, there were 35 auxiliary and motorcycles stolen as well as one motocross cycle.
