Massage therapist launches business
specialises in sports injury care, Swedish massage, deep tissue therapy, stress management, and massage for pregnant women.
She plans to introduce electrotherapy, a technique used to stimulate the inner muscle, by mid-1994.
In addition to the massage service, she has a portable steamer in her clinic at the International Centre on Bermudiana Road.
"Most clients in Bermuda seem to need my massage therapy because of stress, suffered as a result of job tension,'' she said.
She charges a $40 fee per hour for massage treatment. Ms Reid studied physiotherapy, and then various massage techniques at the Neuromuscular Therapy Institute in Florida.
She has worked for a former heavy weight boxer Pinklon Thomas in Florida, but inspiration for her career came earlier.
"I was inspired to become a massage therapist after tending a paraplegic boy while volunteering for the Pathfinder's Club in Bermuda when I was about ten years old,'' said Ms Reid.
