Duo caught stealing bike basket
Two men have been given an absolute discharge after they were caught red-handed trying to steal a moped basket.
Paulo Pacheco, 25, and Miguel Mello, 29, were detained on June 14 in the car park at Albouy’s Point after they were caught on CCTV trying to remove the basket from the bike.
At Magistrates’ Court this morning both pleaded guilty to stealing the basket. Pacheco who was just visiting Bermuda, also admitted having articles in his possession that were to be used in connection with theft.
When he was arrested he had six spanners, a screwdriver and pliers on him.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said that he had imposed an absolute discharge on both men because they admitted the offences, they spent a night in the cells after their arrest, they had no previous convictions and the basket was recovered.
