Five-wicket haul earns Jones player award
Malachi Jones of Bailey’s Bay has been named Logic Premier Division Player of the Week after his performances with the ball last weekend against Flatts Victoria.
Jones claimed five wickets for 14 runs off five overs that included two maidens in his team’s victory.
Jones, who joined Bay from Willow Cuts during the last transfer period, shone with the bat and ball to inspire his new club to an emphatic 185-run win.
“Bailey’s Bay have welcomed me with open arms, they have allowed me to free up a bit with all the responsibilites, where as at Cuts I had responsibilities,” said Jones, who captained WIllow Cuts last season.
“The team [Bay] are looking forward to finishing off the season with three victories to Clevland, Somerset and St Davids.”
Onias Bascome, of St George’s Cricket Club, was named the Logic First Division Player of the Week following his match-winning performance against Somerset Bridge. Bascome scored 102 runs in his team’s win.
