Injured visitors discharged

A visiting couple who were injured in a moped accident in Somerset have been discharged from hospital.

The 64-year-old man and his 63-year-old wife came off their rental cycle when clipped a wall as they rode out of Dockyard.

A police spokesman said: “At the scene the male visitor appeared to have sustained serious head injuries, while the female visitor apparently had less serious injuries.

“The couple was taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where the male visitor’s injuries were apparently determined to be less serious than originally believed. Therefore after receiving treatment, the visitors were later discharged.”

The accident took place on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Mangrove Bay Road at 11.55am on Wednesday
