Man denies behaving in threatening manner

A St George’s man accused of behaving in a threatening manner and possessing an offensive weapon has been given bail.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court this morning, Dennis DeCosta, 40, pleaded not guilty to threatening Michael Simmons by taking a folding knife out of his pocket and advancing towards him.

Mr DeCosta allegedly told Mr Simmons: “I am going to kill you.”

The accused also denied possessing a folding knife in a public place.

The offences allegedly took place in Pembroke yesterday.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $2,000 bail on the condition that Mr DeCosta have no contact with the complainant.

Mr DeCosta elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and the matter was adjourned to June 26 for mention.
