We had a busy life in the 1970s

Berkeley Institute

Dear Sir,

While being interviewed following our 65th wedding anniversary we forgot to tell about our activities during the Seventies.

We had spoken of certain causes that we were involved in during our married life — the busy times involving intense activity in the school programmes of Purvis and Berkeley schools during our children’s attendance.

My wife and I could always be depended upon for considerable help financially and otherwise.

During my time in the Seventies as one of five governors of the Berkeley Institute, under Dr Clarence James, we were busy helping our respective lodges and the BIU in their membership drives. In fact, she unionised the Glencoe Guest House at Salt Kettle while I was busy and quietly recruiting new members of the BIU.
