Gas rises to $2.12 per litre
Gas prices have risen by around ten percent over the last year, but still remain below last April’s record high.According to recently released figures from the Ministry of Finance, the maximum cost of gasoline rose by 5.2¢ per litre to $2.12 per litre as of February 16. Last February, the maximum price of gasoline was set at $1.93 per litre. The maximum price of diesel and kerosene has also risen over the past year by seven percent and just under nine percent respectively.Overall, the price of fuel has fluctuated throughout the year, peaking last April when gasoline reached $2.15 per litre.Prices were at their lowest in December, when the cost of gasoline fell to $2.01 per litre. The overall increase in fuel costs are likely to have an effect on other businesses, with the Bermuda Water Truckers Association announcing earlier this week that the cost of a load of water will increase in April to cover the rising cost of business.Rising fuel costs have also been cited as a major factor in increasing electricity costs.
