Firefighters snuff out East End brushfire

At approximately 1.05am today, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a confirmed brushfire near the intersection of Barry Road and Coot Pond Road, in St George’s.
Fire Service spokesman Sergeant Jamal Albuoy said: “BFRS responded to the incident with two appliances from our Clearwater Station and a total of six personnel. On our arrival, several bundles of horticultural waste measuring approximately 30 feet by 15 feet were involved with fire.
“Two firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze and secured the scene by wetting down the surrounding areas. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
