Simpson drops out
Constituents of Pembroke South East, district 21, will now have just three candidates to choose from in the coming General Election.Winfield (Chuck) Simpson has decided to drop out of the race he dropped into just a few weeks ago.Mr Simpson told The Royal Gazette yesterday that he has some “serious personal business” to attend to, when asked why he could no longer stand for Parliament. That leaves Tillman Darrell, who confirmed yesterday that he still plans to run as an independent, the ruling party’s Rolfe Commissiong and the Opposition’s Jeff Baron as Pembroke South East General Election candidates.Andre Curtis, who had also been canvassing in the district in recent weeks, is in prison, serving a 30-day sentence for non-payment of bills, making it unlikely that he will be make it out in time for nomination day if the election is held this year as Premier Paula Cox has indicated.
