Successful Cup Match skipper Randy Horton

A promise is a promise.Randy Horton had pledged that if Somerset won, he would shave off his beard. So when he captained Somerset to victory in Cup Match for the first time in 19 years, off it came in the middle of the pitch.“I always said that when we win Cup Match I would shave off my beard. Winning was the proudest moment of my career,” said Mr Horton.Often Cup Matches end in draws and Mr Horton said: “I would love to see a three day game, as long as there was the same amount of time played each day.“From an organizational perspective I do not see why they could not have a three day game.“It would be hard on the cricketers and fatigue may become a factor and when that becomes a factor, usually you get results.”
