As a result of last year’s amendment to the Motor Car Act, all of the Island’s car dealerships have been able to import larger cars that were previously banned from Bermuda’s roads.

Although only a handful of the new vehicles have hit Bermuda’s roads, there are loads on the market, one of which is sure to cater to your motoring needs. The following is a preview of what’s available Island wide.

Peugeot 307 Series available at Continental Motors

Starting at $28,100 for the 1.6 litre (manual) XT, auto lovers can also purchase the five-speed, 2.0 litre XS for $30,700.

With ample storage space throughout the car, and height-adjustable, wrap around seats, every ride in a Peugeot 307 will be comfortable for both drivers and passengers alike.

Along with standard features such as air conditioning, power steering, electric mirrors and air bags, other amenities such as leather seats, alloy wheels and a 5-CD disc changer are also available at additional cost.

For a car that screams “Look at me, I am travelling in style,” you should consider purchasing a spacious 307 hardtop convertible.

Starting at $47,900 for the 2.0 manual ($49,900 for an automatic), this H class car will turn heads wherever you travel.

If your family is outgrowing your car, then the 307 station wagon is just what you are looking for! Equipped to seat five adults comfortably, for an additional $600 per seat, third row seating is also available.

If you desire leather seats, add another $3,300 to your package. If you need to keep a couple of cool drinks in the car for the kids, just store them in the spacious glove box, which is connected to the vehicle’s air conditioning system.

Toyota Rav 4 available at Bermuda Motors

<*After a brief absence on the Island’s roads, the popular Rav 4 is back and sportier than ever! With tons of storage space, the Rav 4’s seating can be reconfigured (or removed) in order to accommodate your cargo.

With sliding rear seats, gone are the days are feeling like a cramped backseat traveller-now you can stretch your legs and enjoy the ride.

Starting at a basic price of $42,000, all Rav 4’s are automatic but manual models can be ordered upon request.

Volkswagen Variant<$>

For a price of $40,995 including leather, the Class H Variant may be the car for you. Available in white, silver, green, blue, black, red and beige, the Variant only comes in automatic.

Equipped with Xenon headlights, which allows for greater nighttime visibility, the Variant also boasts several safety features such as the ISOFIX system.

When fitted with an ISOFIX car seat, your child is guaranteed to be secure whenever you travel. Additionally, for children weighing over 30 pounds, there is a child’s seat built right into the back!

By simply lifting the seat surface, it can be converted from an adult’s to a child’s in seconds.

Chrysler PT Cruiser

With the introduction of the PT Cruiser to Bermuda’s roads, HWP has brought a little bit of America over the waters.

With over 30 unique seating configurations---that’s what Chrysler says, the PT Cruiser (Class G) has a style of its own that easily recognised on our roads.

Honda CRV

Already becoming a favourite by motorists, the large Honda CRV can be spotted a mile away. A fusion of ruggedness and sophistication, this utility vehicle silently says, “I am the king of the road.”

Priced at $43,495 with leather, this Class H car comfortably seats five and has loads of trunk space for your cargo.

With a 2.0 fuel-injected engine, six-disc CD player, power windows and steering, keyless entry, sunroof and much more, the Honda CRV promises hours of driving bliss.

It is currently available in eight different colours, each with either black or beige interior.

Renault Scénic

Along with incorporating its safety features that Renault is well known for, the new Scénic boasts lots of ‘extras’ that makes it stand out from the rest.

Gone are the days of having to purchase an extra mirror to keep an eye on your child in the backseat; the Scénic has a child minder mirror built right in so you don’t have to adjust your rearview mirror to communicate.

Hate having to eat on your lap while sitting in the back? Just pull out one of the two tray tables from out of the front seat.

Need draw space-yes, draw space? The Scénic has that, too. In terms of storage, Renault has left no stone unturned.

The automatic Scénic starts at $45,000.

You can’t put a price on luxury, and for a starting price of $59,995, the Megane can be yours!
