Wizard of Oz fans should follow the yellow brick road to CedarBridge
Student actors from CedarBridge Academy are staging a wonderfully twisted adaptation of ?The Wizard of Oz? today in the school?s Ruth Seaton James auditorium.
The play, entitled ?Four Friends, a Dog and a Yellow Brick Road? stars S1 student Trebony Dillard in the lead role as Dorothy.
Miss Dillard is no stranger to the stage but said this is her ?favourite? play to date and that she feels like she and Dorothy have very similar personalities.
?Dorothy is 12 years old in this play but she is very friendly, often frightened and dramatic,? she said.
The play opened onThursday night and Ms Dillard admitted to feeling nervous but said she was well prepared. ?I hope I hit all my notes right,? she said.
?Four Friends, a Dog and a Yellow Brick Road? builds on the school?s five-year drama tradition led by teachers Shelley McKinnon-Burgess (drama) and Joanna Powell (dance).
Past plays staged by students have included ?Grease? and ?West Side Story?.
There are two opportunities to see the school?s budding actors today.
Performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for patrons, $15 for adults, $8 for students and children under five can attend free of charge.
