St George’s Cup Match cricketer Fiqre Crockwell appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning to answer charges of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Mr Crockwell, who scored a half-century in the second innings of the Annual Classic at Somerset Cricket Club last year, denied possessing 0.49 grams of heroin in St George’s on August 27, 2013.

The 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman plays for league champions St David’s and was originally listed as a member of the ill-fated Bermuda squad that would travel to Malaysia last October for the ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament before withdrawing from the squad for “personal reasons”.

He was granted $3,000 bail, with a trial date set for May 20.

Also in court today, 27-year-old Detroy Bean, of Sandys, pleaded not guilty to one charge of possessing cannabis in Southampton on October 31 last year.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $1,500 bail and set a trial date for May 19.

In a separate matter, a 49-year-old Southampton man denied causing grievous bodily harm by driving carelessly.

John Cordeiro allegedly committed the offence against Marion Pitt on Middle Road, Southampton, on September 4 last year.

Mr Tokunbo granted $3,000 bail and set a trial date for May 20.
