Robin Hood smacked Young Men’s Social Club for six in the first round of the FA Cup at Goose Gosling Field on Saturday night.

The top-flight side, who were recently crowned the Friendship Trophy winners, displayed their superior finishing and were three goals up after 20 minutes against their First Division opponents, with Lijaun Simmons, Jake Fox and Alex Martin all finding the net.

Simmons, returning the Island from his studies in England, where he plays for non-League side Ilkeston, opened the scoring in the second minute, following up a rebound after Antwan Russell’s initial effort was saved by Shervin Jennings, the Social Club, goalkeeper.

Fox, the Hood midfielder, doubled the home side’s advantage on nine minutes with a close-range finish before Martin, the defender, powered the ball over the line on 20 minutes to leave a shell-shocked Social Club with a proverbial mountain to climb.

Simmons should have added a fourth when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper but took far too long to pull the trigger, affording the Social Club defence with precious time to recover, with his eventual shot blocked on the line.

The rout continued in the second half with Fox adding his second with a neat finish in the 62nd minute before Tre Dill, the Hood forward, struck from close-range from a Fox cross on 69 minutes.

Dill, who has been called up into Bermuda’s World Cup qualifying training squad, scored his second in the 80th minute after Simmons had wasted another one-on-one chance.

Nathan Simons, the Social Club substitute, managed pulled a goal back with a cross-come-shot late on.
