School registration dates announced
Registration for the Bermuda Public School system is slated for January 28, 29 and 30 next year, The Ministry of Education and Economic Development has announced.
The Ministry has also introduced a new registration policy and procedures document which addresses registration at preschools, primary, middle and senior schools.
Copies are also available at the offices of the Department of Education at 14 Waller’s Point Road, St. George’s DD 03. The new registration document is available on the Department of Education’s website at www.moed.bm
The Ministry also said that registration procedures as well as a deadline for appeals against registration decisions will be published in the Official Gazette in January 2015. “It should be noted that children entering primary school must turn five years of age in 2015; therefore applications for early entry to primary school will no longer be considered,” stated the Ministry’s release.
The Ministry has also said that parents of a child with mobility, vision, hearing, medical, social-emotional, developmental or any other special education needs who are not currently enrolled in the Bermuda Public School System must contact the assistant director of Student Services at 278-3327 prior to submitting a registration form.
“The assistant director will provide parents with assistance and guidance in order to request the school with the appropriate special education programming and services. Parents are encouraged to contact the Assistant Director as early as possible.”
The new policy replaces the 2012 First Admission to Primary School Policy which has been rescinded, the Ministry added.
For more information regarding public school registration, parents can contact the relevant school.
Questions on the policy can be put to the Department of Education’s Policy Analyst at 278-3344.
