A 41-year-old man was charged in Magistrates’ Court this morning with sexual assault.

The Pembroke man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard by the Supreme Court. The court heard that the charges relate to an incident that occurred on Saturday in Pembroke.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released the defendant on $5,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that he have no contact with the complainant. The matter is expected to return to the courts this month to be mentioned.
