Online tutors are now available to local students, or anyone with a library card and internet access.

Wayne Scott, the Minister of Community and Culture, announced the launch of Tutor.com, which will allow users to link up with an expert tutor for a 20-minute session, any day, from 3pm to 11pm.

“Whether you just need a little hint to get unstuck or you need someone to explain the concept a bit slower, Tutor.com can help,” Mr Scott said. “Anyone with a library card can log into the website at www.bnl.bm and connect with an expert tutor for a 20-minute session. No appointment is needed and tutors are available from 3pm to 11pm, every day, even on most holidays.

As well as helping with homework online tutors can help with the crafting of a resume.

The resource is available via the library site, www.bnl.bm, where there is a link up for Tutor.com.

Library cards are free with identification, although residents under the age of 18 will need the signature of a parent or guardian.

Mr Scott added: “We all know that sometimes it can be difficult for students to get the type of support they need to be successful in school. It is not just the job of the students, but also the parents, the school and the entire community.

“We are delighted to be able to offer this service to the community through the Bermuda National Library.”
