Police and fire crews found the blaze in the centre of the hut when they arrived at 6.20 p.m. last Wednesday. Substantial damage was caused to the roof.
A source said up to $30,000 of damage may have been caused to the hut and equipment.
The club's administrative assistant, Mike Pitt, said: "We have not finalised the investigation yet so it is too early to comment.'' Police and the Fire Service are carrying out an investigation.

A duffel bag containing clothing and other personal items was recovered at the scene. Inquiries are continuing.
