-- and hopes that its round of home-grown entertainment will entice many more young people through their doors.

Jazz, poetry and fashion go on the roster of attractions, along with matching-theme dinners, served "under the stars'' around the fountains of City Hall.

"This is really targeted at the younger cocktail set,'' says Geneva Humdy Woodley, who joined the staff of the gallery last year as director of development. "We wanted to showcase local talent, so our first event will be `Shine' Hayward in `Jazz and Art'. We will serve cocktails and then a Louisiana-style dinner, put together by Davis Catering.'' `Poetry and Art' will feature Flow, the poetry group that gathers on Sunday nights at the Coconut Rock restaurant (dinner, appropriately enough will be catered by Food For Thought).

"We thought it would be fun to present them in a different setting and encourage their followers to come along to the gallery. During cocktails, people will be able to look at our artwork and also to browse -- and hopefully, buy -- in our gift shop.'' The final event will feature `Natural Spring Fashions' by Ricky Richardson. "He will be showing his special collection of Cup Match fashions which will be modelled by some of the Biennial Exhibition artists along with his own models,'' explains Mrs. Humdy Woodley, "and the food for that evening will be by The Jamaican Grill.'' `Jazz and Art' takes place on Tuesday, July 7, `Poetry and Art' on Thursday, July 16 and `Fashion and Art' on Saturday, July 25. Tickets are $35 ($40 for non-members. "You don't have to be a member,'' says Mrs. Humdy Woodley, "but for those who would like to sign up, there will be a 50 percent discount on one of the evening programmes.''
