Tributes have been paid to Dave Miller, who became the Island's 13th road fatality this year.

Mr. Miller's wife, Nola, was speaking on her release from hospital after recovering from the injuries she recieved in the horrific crash which claimed her husband's life.

Mr. Miller, 39, died in the intensive care unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Thursday. He had been there since he suffered severe head injuries in a crash on October 7.

Mr. Miller was severely injured when his motorcycle was involved in an accident at the junction of Palmetto Road and Roberts Avenue, early on October 7.

Mrs. Miller, who received a broken jaw, broken finger, swollen ankle and facial injuries, was riding pillion on the motorcycle and says her husband was a very careful driver.

She is angry with Police reports that suggested the motorcycle may have swerved before hitting a wall. She claimed there was another vehicle which she believes was involved in a collision with the motorcycle. "He was a very careful driver who always drove slow,'' she said.

A Police report said a taxi was travelling north on Roberts Avenue and had stopped at the junction of Roberts Avenue and Palmetto Road, before continuing across.

The taxi driver has been spoken to and a Police inquiry is ongoing.

Yesterday, a Police spokesman said officers would be speaking to Mrs. Miller during the course of the investigation. She added that her health was the first concern in the probe.

Mrs. Miller, 33, lived on King Street with her husband and their two daughters, Sherica, 7, and Diedre, 5.

"He was a loving husband and he will be sadly missed by everybody who knew him, especially his two daughters,'' she said.

"He was a man of peace, happiness, joy and everything that is nice.'' OBITUARY OBT
