Devonshire Rec. Club 193-4

An unbroken 134-run fifth-wicket partnership between Ian Armstrong and Ricardo Brangman sr led Devonshire Rec. to victory over Willow Cuts by six wickets in Open League play at Somerset Cricket Club on Sunday.

Armstrong (82) and Brangman (70) combined for a match-winning performance to rescue the visitors from a precarious position as they came to the wicket with their team in a spot of bother at 59 for four.

Devonshire's top order was unable to get on top of the Cuts bowling with Oladapo Fredericks (4), Winston Paynter (3) and national Under-13 skipper Kamau Leverock (3) failing to trouble the scorers.

But then the two steely veterans guided their side to victory.

Kevon Fubler led the Cuts bowling with one for 12.

Earlier Cuts had managed to post 190 with Damian Thompson leading the way with 51. Dennis Williams returned bowling figures of three for 37 and Jodi Maroni took three for 42.

Trott shone first with the ball, snatching three for 15, and then belted three fours off 51 balls before Bay sealed victory in the 29th over with two wickets in hand.

Stephen Outerbridge, one of three senior national team players in Bay's squad, top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 34 that contained just one four.

Stars skipper Justin Pitcher led by example with the ball as he snared four for 23 while teenager Raymond Butterfield had two for 23 in a losing cause.
