Safety show targets teens
tonight to the prevention of traffic fatalities among young people.
Entitled "Till Road Do Us Part,'' the programme will feature profiles, music and interviews with crash survivors. It is dedicated to the memory of Zalita Hunt and Kioshi Edwards, two teenagers who were killed in a road accident on April 22.
"Many of the teen correspondents (on the show) were friends with this couple,'' said one of the producers, Ms L.A. Virgil. "And many of us out there are going through this right now.'' By injecting a few "shocking'' elements into the show's regular fast-paced format, Ms Virgil hopes that young people will examine their driving habits and alter their behaviour if necessary.
"When you're out there riding recklessly, you have to think about others and the family you leave behind,'' she said. "Being such a small country, the amount of young people, especially black people, we lose is pretty serious.'' "Till Road Do Us Part'' will be on VSB-TV 11 at 8 p.m.
