Merlo moves up ladder at Aon
Aon (Bermuda) Ltd. has promoted Michael Merlo from senior vice-president to executive vice-president in recognition of his increased responsibility for strategy and business development since joining the company.
Mr. Merlo will also continue to serve as Aon's chief counsel.
His responsibilities include strategic initiatives relating to enhancing operations, improving client service, developing new business, and optimising corporate structure. In addition, Mr. Merlo manages Aon's legal and compliance affairs, and also provides counsel and advocacy to Aon's clients on a wide range of issues.
He also oversees Aon's claims team, whose personnel assist clients in presentation of claims to Bermuda carriers and resolution of the same.
Prior to joining Aon in 2004, Mr. Merlo practiced law in the US for several years, most recently in the Chicago office of the international law firm Lovells. His law practice focused on complex civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on insurance and reinsurance matters. Mr. Merlo holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois and a juris doctor degree from the Northwestern University School of Law.
Brandi Travis has joined the Troncossi Public Relations team.
In her new role, Ms. Travis will be responsible for advising on communication challenges, managing potential media crises, monitoring the media, writing press releases, newsletters and positioning statements, and liaising with the media as well as with clients.
Prior to moving to Bermuda, Ms. Travis worked as the director of communications for the National Association of Health Underwriters, a healthcare trade association based in Virginia, and was a press assistant on Capitol Hill for US Congressman Ed Whitfield.

Lines Overseas Management Ltd., a subsidiary of LOM (Holdings) Ltd. has appointed David Barker to the firm's Investment Policy Committee (IPC). Mr. Barker joined LOM in February with more than 20 years of experience in the international financial industry. Mr. Barker, who is Bermudian, has worked in global fixed income, foreign exchange, IR products, futures, derivatives and management. He is currently the manager of the LOM brokerage trading desk.
