Realtor offers condos as short term rentals
hassle-free "hotel'' for international business executives.
For $300 a day, $1,850 a week or $6,000 a month, an executive can rent one of five two-bedroom condominiums known as The Regency.
Overlooking Hamilton Harbour, opposite and high above Fidelity International, The Regency condos rate as top-class accommodation, the agents said.
Included in the price is maid service for six hours a week, cable television, electricity and phone service.
Inside, the apartments come fully furnished, complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, washer/dryer and air conditioning.
There is a balcony on which to enjoy the water view and a swimming pool to experience the real thing.
Mrs. Karen Brine, rental agent for Jones Waddington, said the current rental market "is somewhat of a nightmare for many newcomers to Bermuda''.
"As a result, we are introducing a new concept for the Island -- executive short-term rentals,'' she said. "The Regency, which is only a stroll away from downtown Hamilton, will be offered for rent, completely furnished, by the day, the week or the month.'' The short-term rental concept is ideal for businessmen who have just arrived on the Island and need time to find a full-time home, she said.
One of the major advantages over a hotel is that each unit carries an assessment number allowing an occupant to immediately buy a car.
When they move, the vehicle's registration can be easily transferred to the assessment number of their new home.
Mrs. Brine said: "We are offering complete convenience to the renter. "They don't have to bother with Telco, Belco, Cablevision or hiring a maid. We take care of all of that.'' She added: "The Regency is the perfect solution for the business executive who is in Bermuda on a regular basis but maybe only a week out of each month.'' Mrs. Brine said Jones Waddington had come up with the executive short-term rental concept as a result of the huge influx recently of international insurance and reinsurance companies.
"International business is now the number one industry in Bermuda and it makes sense to have a product like this,'' she said. "This fills a gap in the market.'' Although the units are designed for up to four people, an additional two people can be accommodated for a charge of $30 per person per day.
The condos are scheduled to be ready for occupation by October 1.
An open house will be held within the next few weeks for company owners and personnel executives to look around.
"What we have to do now is get the concept across to our potential customers,'' said Mrs. Brine. "It's so new that it is going to take a while for people to get used to it.'' ROOMS WITH A VIEW -- The Regency condo complex overlooks Hamilton Harbour.
