Schoolboy caught with cannabis is warned
A schoolboy charged with possessing cannabis on school property was given a conditional discharge when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.Bryan McIntosh, 17, of Hillsdale, Smith’s, pleaded guilty in December to having 0.7g of the drug at the Berkeley Institute on November 3.He was arrested after school staff saw him and another teenager, Kiaaron Minks, with plantlike material. A subsequent search revealed two twists of cannabis in McIntosh’s school tie.Speaking at his sentencing, McIntosh said: “This has been the worst experience of my life. I regret making the decisions that I made, especially dishonouring my school and myself.”Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo issued McIntosh a 12-month conditional discharge, warning him that if he appears before the courts again in the next year a conviction will be recorded against him.McIntosh must also perform community service and go through any programmes advised by Court Services.
