Caron Bermuda to honour Philip Butterfield

Addiction treatment organisation Caron Bermuda will host a gala dinner to honour the contributions of Philip Butterfield, the soon-to-retire head of Bank of Bermuda.The organisation’s chairman Rees Fletcher said the May 18 event will salute Mr Butterfield “for his spirit of caring and compassion and his personal commitment to Caron Bermuda and to our community”.He added: “As chief executive officer of HSBC, Bank of Bermuda, Philip and HSBC have been instrumental in the success of Caron Bermuda and our programmes.“We take this opportunity to recognise their support and continue the drive to expand our capabilities to better serve Bermuda.”Premier Paula Cox will be patron for the dinner and the guest speaker will be former Miss USA 2006, Tara Conner, who will share her story of recovery from substance abuse.Mr Butterfield is due to retire from his role as CEO at the bank on May 10, after 40 years in the banking industry.He will hand over the reins to Deputy CEO Richard Moseley but remain as chairman of the bank.Proceeds from the dinner will fund programmes for adolescents and families and provide financial aid to families who need help meeting the costs of treatment.Mr Fletcher invited companies and individuals to buy tables for the event.www.caronbermuda.org.
