Man jailed for stealing male stimulants
A 42-year-old Warwick man who stole male stimulants from a drug store landed in jail today.Glenn Burgess, of Tribe Road One, admitted in Magistrates’ Court to stealing the box of supplements from the Phoenix Store in Hamilton.At 3.20pm on April 12, Phoenix staff observed Burgess picking up two boxes. He put one in his pocket, and returned the other to a display stand.Challenged outside when he left without paying, Burgess agreed to follow an employee back into the store for a talk with the manager.Police were called after Burgess tried to drop the evidence once inside.The court heard that he appeared intoxicated.He told the arresting officer: “Do what you have to do, sister.”Burgess later told police he had stolen the $24.95 box of supplements to sell for alcohol. He had been under probation for a May 2010 theft.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner sentenced Burgess to 30 days’ imprisonment.
