Mayho completes three stage victory

Mark Hatherley (2:37:48) and Darren Glasford rounded out the top three (2:37:51) in the Male ‘A’ Division.Mayho, the current Male Junior Athlete of the Year, ran away with each stage to win, although Hatherley was hot on his heels, pushing the talented youngster all the way.Dennis Joell won the Men’s ‘B’ Division in a time of two minutes, six minutes, 39 seconds, beating out Johan Vivier (2:06:41) and Mark Lombardi (2:06:45) to the overall title.Bermuda Bicycle Association (BBA) president Peter Dunne said: “Both the level of competition and the organisation of the events were fantastic.“The modified course for Friday evening in St George turned out to be a great option, the Saturday road race was well received by the motoring public and today’s race in Hamilton was, as usual, a real gem.“With 125 riders entered in various categories each field was well represented and, with this number of riders the competition is very strong.“The standard of racing was perfect for this event. Our local racing scene has grown tremendously and new faces are turning up each week.“Having competitive amateur racers from overseas participating in the Men’s A and Women categories introduced new variables to our local competitors, making the racing more exciting.“This is the direction we would like to continue growing the event, with more amateurs joining in.”Kristyn Robinson (1:43:56) won the Female Open category, while Jeana Jones came second (1:44:15.5) and Joanna Shillington (1:44:15.9) third.In the Male 13-16 category, Charlie Pilgrim (1:41:19), held off Kaz Godfrey (1:42:28) and Robin Horsfield (1:50:01) to win the top prize, while Victoria Davis (1:18:45) won the Female 13-16 age group over Jessica Godfrey (1:21:19) and Tristan Narraway (1:21:41)
