Bridal mag spat leads to probe
magazines.
Bermuda Weddings and Setting Up Home, produced by local businesswomen Amanda Temple and Shelly Hamill, is facing a challenge from Bermuda Wedding, produced by Massachusetts pair Leslie Hurd and Amy Lilavois.
Both publications deal with getting married in Bermuda and will sell in the US and Bermuda.
Ms Hamill told The Royal Gazette she and Ms Temple had contacted Immigration officials in a bid to uncover whether or not the US women had work permits.
"If so, then we wanted to make Immigration aware that we were already producing a magazine,'' she said.
Ms Temple was editor of Bermuda Homes & Gardens for three years and also does wedding photography. Ms Hamill is a professional bridal consultant.
Ms Hurd and Ms Lilavois' publication, Bermuda Wedding, is to go on sale in late spring. It is set to be a local production with Bermudians running everything beside printing and distribution.
