Chubb makes donation to BII
and become a patron member of the organisation.
The professional liability and finite risk specialist insurer started its Bermuda operation in June.
Mr. Ian Linnegan, Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII) director, said: "We rely on our sponsors for the resources to help us prepare students for insurance careers.
"The explosive growth of career opportunities in the Bermuda insurance industry means that we must expand our programmes to accommodate new demands,'' said Mr. Linnegan.
The donation was motivated by Chubb Atlantic Indemnity's desire to support the Bermuda insurance community and assist in the Island's efforts to train local insurance professionals.
Chubb Atlantic Indemnity's president is Mr. John Stites. The company may assist with the Institute's professional development seminars, which are non-examination training courses, intended to offer risk managers, brokers and service providers the opportunity to polish their technical skills.
Mr. Linnegan is also working with Chubb Atlantic to organise a half-day seminar on Directors & Officers Liability Insurance. The seminar, scheduled for spring 1994, will include presentations by senior managers of Chubb's US Executive Protection Department on D&O-related topics, including underwriting, loss prevention, claims handling and legal issues.
Over 50 percent of funds needs to maintain the Institute's services come from 35 patron members in Bermuda, according to Mr. Linnegan.
