Data Tech regain top spot
Defending champions Data Tech Netts regained pole position in the Senior Winter Netball League after seeing off a spirited challenge from Warwick Pink Panthers at the weekend.Data Tech were pushed all the way by their opponents before prevailing 50-33 in a hard fought battle at Bernard Park.Guiding the unbeaten league leaders to their fifth consecutive win of the season was goalkeeper turned goal shooter Marissa Wainwright who poured in a game-high 42 points to virtually carry her team on her shoulders.Goal attack Darrika Woodley-Simons scored 14 points in a losing cause for Pink Panthers who slumped to their second loss of the season.Data Tech currently top the pile on goal difference over nearest rivals Young Men’s Social Club Lady Bluebirds who got past Smooth and Easy Tigers 52-43 in another high-scoring affair to keep their unblemished record intact.Previous league leaders New Life had a bye at the weekend which also saw juniors take to the court.In the Under-16 Division North Village Lady Rams were forced to dig deep before claiming a 24-17 win over IAS Shooters while in stark contrast Signworx blasted Young Men’s Social Club Junior Bluebirds 42-10.In the Under-14 Division, Nu-Art Superstarz beat Data Tech Netts 22-10 while Young Men’s Social Club Bluebird Young-uns defeated North Village Lady Rams 17-11.Under-12 league action saw Netts Whites thrash Cougars Cubs 38-2, North Village Lady Rams edge Netts Green 12-10 while Young Men’s Social Club Baby Bluebirds comfortably got past Colts Warriors 18-6.
