Triumph boosts visitor arrivals
Bermuda's shipping channels are busy this week with mega-cruise ship Carnival Triumph making two visits to the Island in fewer than seven days.
Carnival Triumph arrived in Bermuda last Saturday, bringing 3,520 people for an overnight stay in what was its first of three trips planned for this year.
It left from Dockyard on Sunday, but will return again on Friday from Virginia, with a similar number of passengers for a weekend stopover before leaving on Monday.
Bermuda's regular cruise visitors, Celebrity Cruises' sister ships Zenith and Horizon, arrived as scheduled on Monday this week.
Zenith docked in Hamilton Harbour just before 9 a.m. with 1,350 people on board, and was set to head to St. George's today, before setting sail from the Island tomorrow.
Horizon arrived in St. George's on Monday carrying 1,400 people, and stayed there overnight before making its usual trip to Hamilton Harbour yesterday. It will also sail back to New York tomorrow.
Regular weekly caller Norwegian Majesty arrived on the Island yesterday lunchtime. It is scheduled to remain in St. George's until leaving tomorrow.
The Nordic Empress, carrying 2,358 people, also arrived yesterday lunchtime and berthed in Dockyard. It is set to move to Hamilton Harbour tomorrow, before leaving the Island on Friday.
The Pacific Princess followed the Nordic Empress into Bermuda's waters, with 1,000 passengers and crew on board, and docked in St. George's yesterday.
It is scheduled to make its way to Hamilton today and Dockyard tomorrow. She is due to leave on Friday.
On the container ship front, the regularly scheduled Somers Isles arrived on Monday with 149 dry containers and six refrigerated containers.
She arrived from Florida and is due to leave today.
The Bermuda Islander is scheduled to arrive tomorrow with 71 dry containers, 25 refrigerated containers, one carbon dioxide container, one 40-foot-flat rack and two normal flat racks.
And the Oleander came in from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Sunday evening carrying 164 dry containers and 39 refrigerated containers.
Also on board were 32 cars, six flatbed trucks, one mixer truck and one trailer. It sailed from Bermuda yesterday morning.
Working vessel, the Mighty Servant One, which was carrying a floating accommodation for an oil rig, known as a floatel, anchored off the St. George's shore on Monday to pick up new crew .
The Dutch vessel, which can partially submerge itself, collected the British crew before leaving later that day.
Due to arrive tomorrow is the Sirius B barge. It will arrive in Dockyard to refuel before leaving the same day.
And the cable ship Lodbrog is stationed in Dockyard indefinitely after arriving on the Island last week.
