Hayward leads the revival
It was business as usual in the Camel Pool League after their halloween break.
This week's action consisted of some interesting games as Queen's Club Knights played Queen's Club Kings and Hamilton Parish I played Hamilton Parish II.
Queen's Club Kings' attempt to knock their home team rivals Queen's Club Knights off the top spot got off to a solid start with the Kings leading by 20 points at the half-way point.
However, the Knights were not going to go down without a fight. Joe Hayward started the comeback with a table length cue-ball bank-shot to begin his eight ball run-out and win the game 10-0.
That was all the motivation the Knights needed as they went on to trump the Kings 191-168. Gary Skinner scored a 10-0 and Kidd Mouchette an ERO for the Knights.
Mike Zimmerman scored a 10-0 and an ERO for the Queen's Club Kings. Hamilton Parish Workman's Club II started off the night with an ERO by Mike Ingham, but could not keep that momentum as a team.
HPI took the lead in the fourth game and never looked back. Dion Burgess led his team with a perfect 50 to a 218-156 win. John Nicholl scored a 10-0 for HPI.
In the Warwick Workman's I and Flanagan's match-up Steve Bremar led WWI with a perfect 50 to a 232-134 over Flanagan's.
WWI managed to open up a 50-point lead at the half-way point which was too much to overcome and confidence grew through the remaining half.
An interesting twist developed with Andre Burgess (WWI) poised to take a 50 for the night on his last game, but Chris Garland (Flanagan's) foiled that attempt. Not to be outdone by his team-mate, Peter Ragell (Flanagan's) stopped Del Joseph from scoring his perfect 50 in his final game.
WWII and BAA played a close match with Rachael Smith scoring her first perfect 50 in league play as she led her team to a 198-186 win over BAA. On Smith's last game her nerves seemed to get the better of her as she could not pot a ball at first. Luckily her opponent couldn't either and she edged him out with a narrow 10-7 victory.
The upset of the week was Vasco's loss to Docksiders. Justin De Couto led the way for Vasco with a strong showing. His 45 was not good enough to get the team going as Docksiders edged out Vasco 163-152.
League games continue on Thursday.
