Dr. Godwin wins DAB backing for office
next year after receiving planning permission to expand his Parson's Road office.
The Development Applications Board has allowed Dr. Godwin to develop a Pembroke building from a house into a dentist's office.
Dr. Godwin said he intends to develop the property to its fullest potential so that it can be an asset to Parson's Road.
"I've decided to develop the whole property, and it's a half-million dollar project,'' he said.
"The ramp alone costs $100,000 and I've added an extra apartment downstairs -- it's a major project,'' he added.
Dr. Godwin had recently successfully appealed a Dental Practitioners' Board decision to strike his name from the list of registered practitioners after his conviction for insurance fraud.
He said this was the second time plans were approved for the office renovations.
Dr. Godwin said when he first went out of practice, he submitted the first set of plans which received in principle approval for two new dental chairs.
But Dr. Godwin said he later "brainstormed'' and chose to install four new chairs, which is what caused the building delay.
He expected to receive a building permit shortly and begin construction in the New Year.
