A mourning X-Roads returned to the football field one week after the death of their team-mate Uthmani Talbot, the son of the club president, beating Paget 4-1 at Southampton Oval yesterday.

Leading from the front was skipper Dennis Musson Jr, who opened the scoring in the 38th minute. They were pegged back when Danzil Smith scored two minutes later, but Yusaff Pitt restored their lead ten minutes into the second half.

Tristan Daniels pushed the lead to two goals ten minutes from time and the scoring was rounded off by Rico Beek to leave unbeaten X-Roads in fifth place on 14 points with one game in hand.

Robin Hood went to the top of the table with their 3-1 win over Ireland Rangers on Saturday night at Goose Gosling Field. After a goalless first half, Gary Adams opened the scoring in the 48th minute before Jason Simons doubled the lead ten minutes later. Joshua Crockwell then made the points safe midway through the second half.

The scoring was finished when Daunte Woods netted a consolation strike for Ireland Rangers with 11 minutes left.

St George’s Colts missed the chance to reclaim top spot yesterday, suffering another defeat at Police Field, this time going down 1-0 to Devonshire Colts, who scored through McQuin Simmons in the final ten minutes of the match. The win takes Devonshire Colts into second place, level with St George’s, who slipped to third on goal difference.

The battle for the two promotion spots is promising to involve several teams, with only five points separating Hood from BAA in seventh place. BAA came from two goals down to beat Young Men’s Social Club 4-2 at Bernard Park. Tajae Williams and Nya Rawlins gave Social Club a good start with goals in the seventh and 21st minutes before Joshua DeSilva pulled one back for BAA in the 22nd minute.

Jaylon Bather scored in the 53rd and 81st minutes to put BAA 3-2 up before Aaron O’Connor made sure of the points for the visiting side with the fourth goal in the 84th minute.

Boulevard slipped from third to sixth in the standings after losing to Somerset Eagles 2-0. Goals either side of the half from Kanhai Fray were more than enough to get the home side the win at White Hill Field.
