The individual and team event, which is open to residents and visitors 14 and over, will get underway at 8 a.m. at Horseshoe Bay. Proceeds go to the Summerhaven Trust.

The event, named in honour of a former lifeguard who died in 1992. consists of a 1.25 mile run, followed by a half-mile swim and a second 1.25 mile run.

Closing date for entries is next Thursday. Late entries will be accepted up until 7.30 a.m. on the day of the event. Entry fee is $5.

GOLF GLF Chris Garland shot an opening-round 75, two shots behind the leader, at the Acton Junior Invitational Golf Tournament at Blue Springs Golf and Country Club in Acton, Ontario. Competing in the 17-21 age group, Garland struggled with 41 on the front nine but rallied for 34 on the back. Another Bermuda golfer, Steven Carruthers, finished in the middle of the pack with 82.

CRICKET CRI St. David's Cricket Club will hold their semi-annual meeting on August 13 at the club starting at 7 p.m.

The Bermuda Cricket Umpire's Association will be holding a meeting at the Department of Youth and Sports at 7.30 p.m. today.

SOCCER SOC St. George's Colts will hold a training session for all senior players on Sunday morning at Garrison Field starting at 8.30.

All BAA Second Division team players are required to attend a practice match against the national under-17 team at Saltus Field today (Thursday), starting at 5.30 p.m.
