The 1992-93 netball season got underway on Saturday with the annual shooting competition and team tournament.

Jadtheda Harvey of newly-promoted Hamilton Parish shot the lights out in the individual competition as she found the net on 12 out of 15 attempts to outpace second place finisher Nikita Trott, who scored 11.

Parish were again triumphant in the team event. Olympic Panthers and North Village tied for second.

Netts successfully defended their Sylvia Eastley Tournament title, beating PCC 8-3.

Netts Whites started defence of their second division title on Sunday in impressive fashion, blasting Boulevard 35-9.

Warwick Redbirds were awarded the points for their match against PCC that ended in a 23-23 tie after the latter used unregistered players.

Netts Greens suffered similar punishment after using illegal players in beating Aico 23-17.

In the only other match Olympic Panthers and Wolves drew 31-31.

MEN'S HOCKEY HOC Wasps and Chameleons each maintained their unbeaten records with close wins over the weekend.

Chameleons narrowly defeated a nine-man NSC Rebels outfit 3-2 with three goals in a ten minute spell in the second half after falling behind to a first half strike by Donny Moniz.

Mark Norman and John Varnish (two) repaired the damage as Chameleons grabbed a two goal lead but in the end they struggled under tremendous pressure by their opponents.

Meanwhile, Wasps squandered a multitude of chances in their 1-0 victory over Polecats, who have yet to score in their two matches.

Gordy Shaw accounted for the final scoreline, putting away a cross by Paul Farrington.

BOWLING BOW Wahoo continue to hold onto first place in the Fishbowl League after an emphatic four point win over second from bottom team Porgies.

Rockfish stayed in the hunt based on their 3-1 triumph against Hinds which went to the final frame before the issue was decided in Rockfish's favour.

Meanwhile third place Marlins suffered a severe setback facing Piranhas who devoured their more fancied opponents 3-1.

Other matchups saw Tuna down Dolphins 3-1, Barracuda defeated Sharks by a similar margin and Snappers whitewashed Mackerel 4-0.

Action in the Miller High Life league had New Mix Ups demolish a short handed Signature Card outfit 231 -61 behind a strong series of 589 by Vance Gilbert.

Tomps Towing and Stevedoring Services tied 15-15 in their match with Victor Thompson high man for the former and Miles Smith doing likewise for the latter.

League leaders Tools and Equipment showed little mercy on Spoilers, blasting them 26-4 while Goslings similarly had an easy time getting past Team Spirit 20-10.
