Arthur Morris & Company has become among the first office buildings in Hamilton to install solar panels.The company is installing a 25kW commercial solar system on the roof of Century House on Par-la-Ville Road. The system is being installed by Solar Bermuda Ltd and should be finished by the end of this week.“We decided to go solar for two reasons,” Arthur Morris partner Adam Hopkin said.“The first is that as an investment the returns are superb, with the payback of the project cost on a conservative basis hopefully well under ten years.“Our building is perfect for a large solar installation, with two large angled roofs facing almost due south and with uninhibited sunshine hitting them from practically dawn until dusk, so we were really able to maximise the system’s power generation and thus its investment return.”“Secondly, we as a firm are very keen to do our bit for the environment and this project will allow us to significantly reduce our firm’s annual carbon foot print. With our building in such a prominent position in Hamilton it will also be a show case of solar power right in the centre of Hamilton and hopefully persuade other firms and landlords to do the same.”Arthur Morris joins the Gosling’s building in Hamilton in going solar.Gosling’s last year installed a 136-kilowatt system.Previously grocer Lindo’s supermarket installed a 300-solar panel system back in 2011.
