British Airways has finally released the details of its eagerly-awaited seat sale.Travel to London or Manchester is available for as little as $519 with 38 European cities at $787 and Middle Eastern destinations such as Cairo or Tel Aviv from $900.

British Airways has finally released the details of its eagerly-awaited seat sale.

Travel to London or Manchester is available for as little as $519 with 38 European cities at $787 and Middle Eastern destinations such as Cairo or Tel Aviv from $900.

?We have been waiting for this unique travel opportunity to many destinations around the world,? said district manager Philip Troake.

?We are delighted to once again offer this popular sale to our customers for travel departing from Bermuda before April 4.

?Local residents often use this opportunity to travel to Africe as fares to Capetown, Johannesburg and Nairobi are $1, 093 ? a seat sale fare to Hong Kong is expected to be announced next week.

?We know local residents have been hoping this travel bonanza would be offered again this year. It is available immediately for purchase until February 13.?

Travel must be started by April 4 and completed with 12 months. The usual seven day advance purchase and Sunday night minimum stay apply.

Stopovers are permitted at an additional cost of $50 and changes are permitted for $200.

All fares are subject to availability.

Break-in on Orange Valley

Police arrived on the scene of a break-in at an Orange Valley, Devonshire property as the culprit was attempting to escape.

The building was surrounded and searched, but the culprit got away.

Nothing appeared to have been stolen. The incident happened around 3.30 a.m. on Friday.

Man wakes to find stranger in house

A man awoke to find a stranger in his Cobb?s Hill, Warwick home in the early hours of Friday.

The man confronted the stranger who then escaped.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5?11? tall, weighing 190-200 pounds, wearing dark jeans, a black sweatshirt, and a black head wrap.

Theft atEwing Street

Five hundred dollars were stolen from a Ewing Street, Pembroke home between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. on Thursday. Police are investigating.

Boat thief leaves court in tears

A man who broke into several boats moored at a yacht club left Magistrates? Court in tears after he was remanded in custody.

McNeil Wilson, 35, of Rose Hill, Southampton, pleaded guilty on Thursday to stealing $364 worth of tools, including a cordless drill, a Philips screwdriver and a pair of pliers, and drinking sodas from the boat docked at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club on January 24. He also pleaded guilty to trespassing at RHADC.

In court yesterday, Wilson admitted that he drank the sodas but he said he put everything else back where he had found it.

The court heard that Wilson climbed aboard three different boats where he stole the tools that said he was planning to use if he needed to ?jimmy? the lock of the . Along with the missing sodas the toilet on the boat was also found clogged with toilet paper and faeces.

?Only thing I did was drink his fluids,? Wilson told Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves.

The father of two also asked Mr. Greaves for another chance, begging the Magistrate for mercy telling him to sentence him with a hefty fine.

?I?m not fining you, you?ll probably steal to pay for the fine,? Mr. Greaves said.

Dill had two options including applying for drug court or doing the time in jail.

?You won?t be going home today,? he told Wilson.

In tears, Wilson opted to apply for drug court and he was remanded in custody to await a Bermuda Assessment Referral Clinic (BARC) report and a social inquiry report.

Temporary Police station to be parked

A Winnebago will be set up outside Hamilton Police Station to act as a temporary Police station while renovations to the building take place.

As of Monday, the Winnebago will be located outside of the station while the renovations, expected to take two months, are made on the building.

Child development celebrates 25 years

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Child Development Programme is giving away a gift package to new mothers in Bermuda throughout the year.

The first package was given to the proud parents of the New Year?s baby ? Tennille Riley and Andre Trott.

The package includes six videotapes and leaflets on services offered by the programme and will be delivered to new mothers at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital beginning on February 1.

The organisation is also asking for any new mothers since January 1 to get in touch with them so that they can receive their free gift.

Programme to aid further education

It will soon be more affordable for local teachers to obtain their Masters and Doctoral degrees, thanks to an agreement between the Bermuda Union of Teachers and the Bank of Bermuda Foundation.

The two organisation have teamed up to provide the Teacher Development Scholarship Programme which will reminburse participants according to the grade they acheive.

This Spring the BUT will initiate the Professional Development Graduate Program, and offer graduate level courses through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Endicott College, an accredited Institute through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Through the BUT?s affiliation with Endicott, the BUT will offer graduate credit for on-site courses that meet the professional needs of educators and meet the soon to be legislated requirements for teacher licensing. The courses of study will be designed for participants to engage in professional learning opportunities and, if desired, to work toward Masters and Doctoral degree status.

The Professional Development Graduate Program offerings will include but are not limited to courses in the areas of; Primary, Middle and Senior School Education, Reading and Literacy, Early Childhood Development, Special Needs, Student Performance and Achievement and Leadership and Administration.

Courses will cost $750 each and participants will be reimbursed $500 if they acheive and A grade, or $350 if they get a B. Students obtaining lower grades will not be eligible for the scholarship.
