National Trust?s Palm Sunday walk promises to be a real beauty

The popular Palm Sunday Walk, which usually attracts more than 2,000 people, will be held in St. David?s tomorrow.

?The National Trust organises this annual event to encourage Bermudians to enjoy different areas of our beautiful Island,? the Trust?s Communications Manager Kate Berry said.

?The Trust as part of its mandate, promotes the appreciation of historic buildings and areas of natural beauty and the walk provides the perfect community event to do just that?.

She said St. David?s was chosen this year as it offers some of the most beautiful views, and trails run along some of the most rugged and magnificent coastal scenery in Bermuda.

Carter House will be open to the public and the walk will wind through the lanes of St. David?s and take in the Lighthouse and other notable sites.

The walk will commence atClearwater Beach at 2 p.m.

Walkers will travel to the unspoilt Cooper?s Island Nature Reserve before heading up to the scenic St. David?s Lighthouse, Great Head Park, Little Head Park then along the tranquil lanes of St. David?s island.

?A flyer containing some of the highlights of the trail will be handed out at the beginning of the walk, so that walkers can benefit not only from the exercise, but also by learning about Bermuda?s areas of natural and cultural history,? Mrs. Berry said. All are welcome, and there is no charge for participation. Refreshments will be available and commemorative shirts will be on sale.
