Legal arguments all day in murder trial

Chief Justice Richard Ground told the jury hearing the trial of Aquil Richardson's alleged murderers that he hopes it will get going again on Monday.

The panel did not hear any evidence yesterday or Thursday because lawyers were busy thrashing out issues.

Antoine Anderson, 31, of Captain Fox Road, St. David's and Philip Bradshaw, 31, a Jamaican national of Curving Avenue, Pembroke, deny shooting 30-year-old Mr. Richardson dead in Camp Hill, Southampton.

They further deny injuring his acquaintance Lavar Smith in the leg in the same incident on December 26 2007.

Thanking the jury for their patience yesterday, and apologising for keeping them waiting, Mr. Justice Ground told them: "I expect that the work the lawyers and I have been doing in your absence will enable things to move much more quickly and smoothly when we come back on Monday."
